PM saddened by deadly Halloween crowd crush in South Korea

Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba said he was saddened by the news that many people lost their lives in a stampede in South Korea.

“I’m deeply grieved by the news of stampede and loss of many precious lives at Halloween celebration in Seoul,” he said, adding, “We extend heartfelt condolences and sympathies to the Government and people of ROK and the bereaved families and wish for a speedy recovery of the injured.”

The death toll in the horrific Seoul Halloween stampede rose to 151, with 19 of them identified as foreigners, South Korea’s Yonhap news agency reported citing fire authorities.

The incident occurred after a large group of people rushed to an Itaewon bar after hearing an unidentified celebrity visited there, Al Jazeera reported citing the local media.
